List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

  1. Making art reduces stress.
  2. A creative process helps improve emotional regulation.
  3. Making Art promotes ease, relaxation, and mindfulness.
  4. Making art in any form while in a safe space makes it possible to process stress or trauma when verbal processing or traditional talk therapies are not possible.
  5. The ARTS including visual art, tactile and kinesthetic arts, dance, music, and writing improves confidence and self-esteem.
  6. Creativity is a way of knowing. Creativity aids in knowing one’s self, feelings, and building awareness of situations.
  7. Expressive techniques can improve problem solving strategies and adaptive behaviors.
  8. Innovative thinking promotes inner safety, resources, and imagination.
  9. Art is not a talent that one is born with. A creative process can be used by people of all ages and genders!
  10. Creativity is breathing. Making and expressing is survival.
